Parish Priest Vacancy Applications were invited for the Vacancy of Priest-in-Charge at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Applications closed on 16th February 2018. CATEGORY: Clergy The Bishop of Portsmouth wishes to appoint a priest-in-charge for the parish of Holy Spirit Southsea. The Church of The Holy Spirit, Southsea, is an active and highly-motivated church within the Anglo-Catholic tradition expressing their faith through strong musical tradition, the use of traditional High Anglican ritual and a varied community and social life. The Church of The Holy Spirit is surrounded and supported by a number of parishes in the Portsmouth deanery, in particular St James Church, Milton, where both priests are jointly licensed to each other's churches. There are strong links between both parishes. Holy Spirit's vision is to seek to continue to flourish and grow in the Catholic tradition within the Church of England. The PCC has requested that arrangements be made for it in accordance with the House of Bishop's Declaration on the Ministry of Bishops and Priests. It is under the care of the Bishop of Richborough. He will have leadership qualities and will be able to inspire and nurture the gifts of parishioners, churchwardens and the PCC and will lead the parish in their mission priorities, reaching out to the younger and older generations in this part of Portsmouth.
